Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band delighted fans with a springtime performance of Santa Claus is Coming To Town during their Cork show on Thursday night.
While the Boss had fans laughing as he opened up with the Creedence Clearwater Revival track Who'll Stop the Rain as revellers braved the Status Yellow Thunderstorm warning for a night of tunes, not many fans were expecting his Christmas hit Santa Claus. The deep-cut track, initially released as a promo in December 1981 for a charity single, was recorded by Bruce and his E Street Band back in December 1975 - but rarely makes its way onto his set lists this time of year. While diehard Bruce fans, who are notorious for catching the Boss play at nearly every chance they can get, will surely have heard the rockin’ yule time romp busted out a few times, for many at the show it may have been a first.
