Childcare and crèche fees will be capped to ensure the same level of care regardless of parental income under a new approach contained in the draft programme for Government

The leaders of Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and the Green Party are currently meeting to sign off on the draft document after negotiations concluded overnight.

It also includes a commitment to extend parental leave and measures to increase flexibility including the expansion of payments like the Affordable Childcare Scheme to cover childminders as well as crèches.

Wrong, if you expect women to contribute to the economy, this should be ring fenced and a state provision. Any Parent using the facility is contributing through taxation. Raises questions regarding Child Benefit perhaps. It will be sold looking good on paper.

establishment of a childcare agency = more public sector jobs for the boys

That’s great move .. hope govts looks after staff wages and crèche owners too .. 👏

Hopefully this scheme also provides a way to ensure staff are paid decent wages, too.

If they were half as quick at capping their own salaries I would be impressed.

PAY THE FUCKIN STAFF!!!!
