Legendary RTE broadcaster Charlie Bird announced he has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2021.
He tweeted: “My family and friends, my former colleagues in RTÉ and of course my wife Claire have been incredible. When something like this happens, you need good people around you. His first marriage to wife Mary O’Connor Charlie was married to his first wife Mary O’Connor for 24 years and two share two adult children.
The couple had already been together for ten years before they married, and it seems they have been blissfully in love ever since.
