Ireland Under-21 star Bosun Lawal is aiming for a first-team breakthrough at Celtic next year after he completes a successful loan spell at Fleetwood Town.
“Obviously to get as many games as I can up until then and go again in pre-season, make an impact hopefully at Celtic,” he said. “They do keep in touch. I speak to the coaches quite a bit and they come to the games sometimes.”Lawal is also adding goals to his repertoire, with two earlier this month against Wigan to take his tally for the campaign to four.
His progress this year - in his first year in senior football - has thrilled the 20-year-old. The former St Kevin’s Boys and Bohemians youngster joined Celtic in 2021 from Watford, having spent two seasons there. As for where he sees himself in the long-term, Lawal said: “I’d say my preference is in midfield but I’m cool with whatever. I feel like I can have a bigger impact on the game from the middle than from behind. Going forward and defending shows more of me as a player.”
