Cathal Crotty is likely to be discharged from the Defence Forces within the next week, the Irish Mirror understands.
After this, discharge papers will be sent to HR and procedures such as return of kit and medical discharges will return. It is understood this could take a week or 10 days to be completed. Tánaiste Micheál Martin later confirmed to the Irish Mirror the Defence Forces is currently carrying out an audit to determine how many members have convictions.
In the Dáil, Ms O’Brien received a standing ovation from TDs as she watched proceedings from the public gallery. “Taoiseach, how many more times will we say never again? How many more women will have to be attacked? How many more protests will we have to attend? What will it take for women's safety to be prioritised?”
