Egan saw off local favourite David Brady to secure the title with a 3&2 final win

Photograph: David Lloyd/GolffileCarton House golfer Keith Egan produced a nerveless display of ruthless golf to see off home favourite David Brady and secure the West of Ireland Amateur Open Championship on Tuesday at County Sligo.

“I’m delighted, I can’t really express what that means,” said Egan. “Everything is worth it, all of the practice, all of the patience, all of the years coming here, all the miserable weather, it’s all worth it for this.”
