Department of Health review finds no evidence of exploitation of student nurses

review carried out in November found no evidence to support allegations that student nurses had been exploited during their placements in hospitals.

The review also found that the disadvantages of converting student nurse placements into healthcare assistant posts in hospitals would outweigh the advantages. However, an option for such a scheme, which was introduced for a number of months last spring by the then minister for healthOn Saturday Mr Donnelly ended student clinical placements in hospitals for at least the next two weeks to free up training personnel to return to frontline roles.

Before Christmas there were claims that student nurses were being exploited both in terms of their pay and in relation to duties they were being asked to carry out.Taoiseachsaid in December, on foot of concerns raised by Opposition deputies, that there should be investigations by the HSE if student nurses are being “exploited or abused” by being asked to do work outside of their training.

He said if nurses were rostered for a 13-hour shift or a 10-hour shift, they should be paid and that no first-year student should be treating a Covid patient.

rochagal It's a pandemic , all hands to the wheel.

The vaccines should be already in the fridges awaiting approval of the vaccine..

They should take their time, what’s the rush?

I’d do it for free for the good of the country

Excellent job! The wealthy richer and the mid class and poor, poorer. Like this is going to work 🙄

€35 per jab or €120 per hour. Just how much bureaucracy exits for each jab that the HSE thinks that ratio adds up?

DonnellyStephen so pharmacists get 50 euro less for carrying out the same task as a GP ? Yep sounds about right as the Government continue to undervalue the role of pharmacists in this pandemic. wecantcloseourdoors

What about the nurses

Pharmacists fair enough but Gp’s give it a break people can’t even get an appointment with them only over the phone what a joke.

So, vaccination is free for recipients, and state pay pharmacists €60 per person to administer. Wee money spinner there, however main issue is still too slow at only 150000 per week. 👎

Bet nurses could do it at less expense.. but nurses not friends of those in upper echelons

We're all in this for profit....sorry together 🙄

Gps paid €140 per covid test. How much for vaccinating. Gravy train keeps chugging along. No wonder every single one of them want to keep the country locked down. When are gps actually gonna see non covid patients again, we'll all be dead before i think and won't be from covid

Incentivising genocide of the Irish people.

That makes no sense where has the €60 figure come from?

Untrialled, untested, known side effects, people dying allover the world, has 0% liability, no immunity, is not even a 'Vaccine', is an experimental biological agent, sure what could go wrong?

€60 per vaccination - supplied by State - for GP/pharmacists and no exploitation of student nurses has been found. Right so.

Irish rate 2.5 times that of the uk

Anyone who takes this is insane.

they should be locked in a cabinet . then we should get proper results.

Go for it

And no money in the kitty for the nurses
