A businessman charged in connection with the largest seizure of crystal meth in the history of the State is to remain in custody after losing a bid to overturn a High Court decision refusing him bail.
Mr McDonnell was denied bail in the High Court in April and he appealed this at the Court of Appeal on Thursday. He said the accused would offer an independent cash surety of €100,000 and abide by any conditions set by the court, but the three-judge Court of Appeal refused to grant bail due to the high value of the drugs.
