About a dozen buses carrying Ukrainian servicemen who were holed up in the Azovstal steel plant in Ukraine's southeast, which was besieged by Russia, have left the plant, a Reuters witness said

It was also unclear whether those on board were all among the 40 wounded fighters Ukrainian officers said to have been beneath the plant in Mariupol.Earlier, Russia said it has agreed to evacuate wounded Ukrainian soldiers from the bunkers below the besieged steel works to a medical facility in the Russian-controlled town of Novoazovsk.

Most civilians were evacuated from the plant this month after the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross brokered a deal with Russia and Ukraine. "They are in hell. They receive new wounds every day. They are without legs or arms, exhausted, without medicines." The military has"reached the border with the Russian Federation - with the occupying country - we've done it; we're here," one of the soldiers says.

"Two people were killed and nine were wounded, including a child, as a result of shelling on a Severodonetsk hospital," it said, referring to a major urban hub. Separately, police in the neighbouring Donetsk region reported that six civilians were killed and 12 wounded in Russian shelling that hit 10 settlements in the area over the past 24 hours.

"Russia's war in Ukraine is not going as Moscow had planned," Mr Stoltenberg told reporters yesterday evening. Ukraine has scored a series of successes since Russia invaded on 24 February, reversing an advance on the capital, Kyiv, and now driving Russian forces out of Kharkiv in the east. As well as losing large numbers of men and much military equipment, Russia has been hit by economic sanctions, while Western states have provided Ukraine with military aid.

Another great victory for the Ukrainian army, oh wait a minute they are retreating with their tail between their legs.

It's not a surrend, they just left. Ukraine are still winning and Russia are still losing. Stick to the approved narrative.

Putin lovers hate Azov steel defenders for holding up the so called mighty red army. Bought the Ukrainian army valuable time and red invaders retreating with thousands of losses. Well done Azov

Surrounded by Russian soldiers - the Nazis surrender. It's like 1945 all over again. 🇷🇺 Z 💪
