Dad-of-one John Haywood first noticed a mark on his ankle about the size of a 50p coin last summer but had no idea it would lead to a 'shocking' double cancer diagnosis

A dad-of-one who noticed a small 'bruise' on his ankle that "wouldn't go away" was left devastated when it led to a shocking double cancer diagnosis.

Tests revealed the 'innocuous' mark that had appeared on the 46-year-old's leg was actually the first visible sign something was seriously wrong. The reason for the mark appearing on John's ankle was discovered after initial tests also led to the lymphoma diagnosis, a type of blood cancer that affects the immune system.

John had two surgeries in a bid to remove sarcoma on his ankle but neither were successful and he's now due to start a five-week course of radiotherapy.
