Judge approves settlement which boy’s mother considered to be on the light side

Partners, said Lucas, of Ashgrove, Kill Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, had been standing on a plastic stool while washing his hands and had fallen off, striking his forehead against the toilet bowl.

Ms Cruess Callaghan told the court the incident happened due to negligence on behalf of the crèche which had made the boy a settlement offer of €32,500 damages which the judge approved. She said Lucas had been two-and-a-half at the time and had been attending the Wee Care Creche. He had been left with a horizontal scar, still visible at conversation distance, in the middle of his left eyebrow.

Kids have accidents, ffs. This is truly compo culture.

FFS...

This is why insurance is through the roof and everything is closing down . This is a joke ... claim and blame culture .

If it happened at home

That’s exactly why our premiums are so high!!! SO WRONG!!!!

Make the madness end

FFS. Here we go again with the compo culture.

My son fractured his arm falling off a rocking horse in his creche years ago. Did I sue? No! Because a) it was an ACCIDENT and b) Frankly, I'm not an a$$hole

People will take advantage with greedy solicitors taking these cases. Until some judge throws out one of these cases and make those who brought the case pay damages or whatever for wasting time!!

Shame on the parents.

Ridiculous award but probably less than what he'd have got last year .

If that was the worst that happened me when I was young I'd be laughing this is why the country is rotten to the core

Who pays for this? No wonder creche prices are so high with no doubt huge insurance costs

Because kids never ever fall. This compo culture will be the death of businesses.

Another great example of compo greedy parents, judges that should be sacked and solicitors that should not be allowed practice

This is why the Irish leisure industry is closing down.

This seem excess for an insurance claim.

Ffs!

“The wound was treated with the application of adhesive tape”. In other words he got in an ambulance and was taken to hospital for a bandaid.

My son broke his arm in school and had to be operated on we received nothing from the school not even an apology. My daughter cut her knee on a bottle in a public area durning the recession we were told there was no funds for compensation really don’t get it

Why did they not award him a few million instead. Some would be happy to contribute to that.

More madness 🤦🏻‍♂️❄️

His lucrative future as a spectacles model dashed forever. The crèche got of lightly.

This is why insurance is driving people out of business.. the child got a cut big deal . It did not disfigured him or hamper his life or development in any way ... my son cut himself doing art in school and sueing never entered my head.
