Mars Wrigley is to remove Bounty bars from its Celebrations chocolate tubs in a pre-Christmas trial in the UK, but the move will not extend to Ireland

The UK trial comes after a survey found that 39% of consumers want the coconut-flavoured treats axed for good.

The limited edition tubs will include additional Mars, Snickers, Milky Way, Galaxy and Maltesers sweets to make up for the missing Bounty bars. Polling suggested it was popular with a more mature palette, with 38% of over-55s choosing it as their preferred bar.

Important international news that 🥱

Slow news day

Thank God.

My mother loves them, she waits till everything is gone and they are sitting in the box by themselves before she eats them.

It's the protocol's fault, according to Sir Jeffrey !

The Healy-Rea's love an auld bounty 😂😂😂

Thanks be to gawd! Best news ive had all year.

Breaking - just heard Jeffrey Donaldson has blamed the protocol for not being able to get Bounty bars in his Celebration box. He is quoted at warning Irish Gov officials that this is tantamount to Mutiny on the Bounty.

About time 🤙🏻

Excellent marketing.

Maybe we should close the borders just in case. We don't want this dreaded nobounty virus getting into the country!

Pity... I hate coconut :/

SUCK IT UK

Get the Mars out instead, but I bet it's cheaper to make than the Bounty.

That's the last straw....if it happens here I mean

laoisman80 crisis averted 🙌🏻 If you need any bounty free celebrations down from Belfast gimme a shout

My wife laughed when I showed her this, until I pointed out that if there are no Bounties for me to eat, I'll eat her favourite ones instead. She's now against this decision.

Get out of the way.

Of all the good and bad things to report in this big world, fake news rte report on this nonsense

Thank GOD

So 39% want it removed. That leaves 61% in favor of keeping it. That's typical of this new world we live in now, where the minority rules. 🙈

Anything to do with climate change ? Coconut not growing well in the heat ? This is earth-shattering news.

Meanwhile, there’s a very great chance we’ll all be turned to glass in a nuclear explosion before Christmas

Glad they got that message loud and clear 🙂

Good, I usually just put them in the bin.

So...I pay the TV licence for this masterpiece of journalism....

I only like the bounty and maltesers

What about NI do we get Bounty Bars or not, more importantly is this a NI Protocol issue, or can it be made one, if we don’t wait for our Unionist friends to claim the sky is about to fall in again

Slow news day..😴😴

Reminder: There are 11,000 Irish people living on Irelands streets this winter but never mind that because is doing a very important piece about how literally nothing has changed about Bounty Bars.

That’s my fav. Ireland here I come ! Sadly in times of austerity they were bounty .

Not to worry, tomhappens.

I blame the Protocol.

A win for the good guys.

So you're doing product placement news now. Boring. Glad we fixed all the crises. Boring, boring, bland.

It would be better if the individually wrapped plastic packaging was removed. waste plasticfree EPAIreland

But Bounty is the best one🤷‍♀️

Thank god, if they did it would risk mutiny.

Damn. One of my 5 a day.

The government is taxing average people to death. They've taken in seven billion extra from taxes and are openly refusing to lower VAT on fuel. We are struggling to heat our homes and RTE is talking about bounty bars. Our media is an embarrassment

Why report it then.

Noooooooooo !!!
