January 30th, 1972: Survivors speak ahead of Thursday’s prosecution announcement

“I turned my head up to look round at him and he saw me. He got down one knee and he took aim again at me.Mahon’s life was saved when a member of the Knights ofJoe Mahon embraces Liam Wray, brother of Jim Wray, ahead of the publication of the Saville Report. Injured on Bloody Sunday, Joe lay beside Jim and saw a soldier shoot him in the back a second, fatal, time.

“I remember thinking to myself, oh my God, I am going to die here today. The Saracen came in the entrance to the courtyard and just, bang.”“I was down and I couldn’t feel my body, I couldn’t feel anything, and I remember clawing at the ground. People were running for their lives and they were actually trampling over the top of me.”
