Rachael Blackmore has a great book of rides in the Cotswolds for trainer Henry de Bromhead

This Tuesday marks exactly five years since Rachael Blackmore rode her first Cheltenham Festival winner - and what a journey it has been for the Tipperary jockey since!

"That was the year A Plus Tard won. I was getting on a horse like him who romped home in a handicap chase, Minella Indo that year won the Albert Bartlett. These are horses that can go on to do the things that they did. I think that year was just incredible because I was given the chance to ride horses of that calibre, it worked out and the ball rolled on from there."

Reflecting on the scenes in the parade ring, the 34-year-old said earlier this week: "It's something I've never ever experienced before, the crowd, it was just very, very special and I'm just so grateful to every single person who was in Cheltenham that day who was cheering that day for Honeysuckle, for the de Bromhead family. It was a really, really special day and it was something that I've never experienced before.

"Monday is a really enjoyable day, we ride out in the morning, drop your racing bag into the weighing room, walk the tracks, just get ready for the week ahead. One of Blackmore's best chances on the opening day of the meeting looks to be Quilixios in the Arkle, which is the second race on the card. "I just think that Captain Guinness is really, really solid," stated Blackmore. "His performance in the Fortria Chase at Navan at the start of the season was really, really good and obviously he's had his problem with his heart, but that seems to be all in order now. On a going day he's a very, very solid horse so I just think he could run another really big race. It could be a race that opens up.

"Envoi Allen was really impressive in the race last year, I know he's a year older, but he's in great order at home so really looking forward to him," said Blackmore.
