Here is the bizarre moment that a young local Dublin lad is "rugby tackled" to the ground and mistakenly arrested by Gardai in a hectic two-minute blunder by armed officers.
The area had been flooded with Gardai as vans and even the helicopter were deployed to the area near Canon Mooney Gardens on Pigeon House Road as part of an ongoing operation. Ross told Dublin Live that the minute he told them his name, they jumped up and walked away leaving the youngster confused as to what had just happened.
Thinking that the Gardai were targeting someone else, Ross prepared to scoot home when he felt the force of the squad. "Anyone can make a mistake but not to explain the situation and why I was arrested and not to apologise once they realised I wasn't the person they were looking for, that is not on." The young man received bruising to his face and is complaining of bad back problems since the arrest and had a appointment with his doctor on Tuesday evening for a check-up.He added: "I just keep thinking to myself 'what was this even over?'. The no apology has really annoyed me. They basically man-handled me and don't have to explain why.
