Asylum-seekers sleeping rough outside the International Protection Office in Dublin said they’re bitterly cold, hungry, and don’t feel safe. The Irish Mirror went to Mount Street Lower on Thursday and saw around 40 tents pitched around the building - some of which had three people crammed inside. Because the refugees have no access to running water or sanitation facilities - many urinate and defecate behind a steel fence. The majority of the asylum seekers are also fasting during the day because of Ramadan and those who we spoke to said they’re constantly hungry and tired as a result. They told how they’re relying on food from passersby and charities to keep them going. One man from Egypt living in the squalor told us he can’t afford cigarettes so he picks up used butts from the ground to smoke
