Five-fold increase in the number of asylum seekers seeking protection in Ireland.

There has been an eight-fold increase in the number of asylum seekers looking for international protection in Ireland this year.In the first eight months of last year, 1,148 asylum-seekers sought international protection here.Over the course of a year, that represents an increase of around 400%.

That is separate from the over 50,000 people who have come from Ukraine fleeing the Russian invasion.Of this year's figure almost 1,800 have come from Georgia, while over 1,200 have come from Somalia and just under 1,000 have come from Algeria. It said there has been a rise in applicants coming from many countries since international travel resumed.

Another factor, it said, may be that other countries have changed their policies - creating a perception they are less welcoming to asylum-seekers.Share this article

Amazing how they make it here though isn’t it? Without a passport? Turkey Greece Slovakia Italy Switzerland France Holland Germany etc all bypassed to get here. What are they coming here for? It has to be because it’s easy to stay. We are a soft touch.

Most Irish towns now look lik Brixton - Irish will soon be a minority and our government instead of manning the borders are going out of their way to make sure we’re flooded by Mosley single men who have been to many other European countries before coming for the soft touch Irish

Chancers, spoofers, economic migrants, not asylum seekers 90% of them. And if SF ever form a Left coalition it will only get worse. As SF are a woke party who will put their trendy liberal image first rather than deal with the problem.

Were full

Protection or privileges

This has to stop asap. Ireland is full

They are just scroungers coming for our soft welfare system and a free house.

All of these AS are bogus.

Politicans and NGO employees who made the decision to invite people here during a housing crisis need to take responsibility. Their own homes should be seized and given to asylum seekers until proper housing can be built for those asylum seekers.

Because of an open border, no questions or checks, and a virtue signalling government who want to look good for the EU paymasters.. they should all be rounded up and shipped back to wherever they came from asap.

Has word spread Internationally that Ireland is a soft touch? Or has the World never been more f****d up?

Martin44152 Deport

Shouldn't the irish people get a vote via referedum on this massive demographic change Ireland is undergoing? No one should fear democracy.

Seeking free shit

I guess that's what happens when degenerate O'Gorman invites the world in, in their own fucking language ffs.

These are 100% economic migrants. No one has come directly from their home country. They should all be deported.

Can we all remember Séan Deegan (The Refugee Appeals Tribunal Commissioner) who rejected 498 out of 500 applications for Refugee Status in Ireland, as he claimed they were all bogus applicants. 498 out of 500 applications were rejected as they were BOGUS

All promised their 'own door accommodation' within 4 months of their International Protection Application being received under the White Paper Directive on dismantling Direct Provision. You can thank Helen McEntee HMcEntee Roderic O'Gorman rodericogorman for this mass Invasion

Send them back!!!!!!! FAKEUGEES

I'd seek asylum elsewhere if I were offered a free home and weekly funds for free, no where else would offer that to me as an Irish women, my own country won't even provide that for me when I needed it

No homes left.

Whilst we continue to elect politicians loyal to unelected globalist organisations we can continue to expect to be treated with utter disdain.

most of these people are single military age males coming from safe countris, start housing them in a DP centre out in killiney or donnybrook and we wouldn't be long saying no to them

This is changing the very fabric of Ireland and Irish society and the tax paying public have NOT agreed to this or even been consulted. Our government need a serious wake up call from the people who pay their wages and it is coming down the tracks faster than they realise. Eire

Asylum applications in Ireland. 1992: 39. 2002: 11,634. The post-Good Friday Agreement 'anchor baby' surge put us on the criminal radar. Our 'open borders' politicians have kept us there.

90% of these applications are rejected by the DOJ (because they are abusing the Irish system) - nonetheless, we need to house all applicants while their cases are reviewed. We need a sustainable/fair way to accept real AS and deal with migration in this country.

Needs to be stopped .

Are they asylum seekers or economic migrants? If our Welfare system wasn't so favorable would they bother coming?

Free house free money what’s not to like and a government that hates its citizens

We do have a generous welfare system to be fair. Problem is we don't have enough houses or resources (50% GP shortage). Otherwise I could understand them wanting to avail of our welfare system.

All men, most with UK accents, gaming our welfare system. Why should state provide housing for them

Irish Politicians won't suspend asylum seeking despite proportionally huge numbers coming here for 'free' houses, apartments, welfare, medical cards. Ireland is being destroyed. Irish lives being destroyed. Takes housing needed by Irish in their own country. All need deporting.

A lack of courage to not vet properly and promise a lot drives this But wait, despite not having the resources we still dig the hole deeper to be seen as good boys and girls in Brussels Most are victims of American hegemony but you don’t see America helping

Our government are probably some of the worst long term planners around always opting for the quick buck for a few cronies rather than dealing with something in the best way. They run the country like a get rich quick scheme for cuckoo funds with the tax payer paying the bill!

We are changing the very fabric of Irish society and it hasn't been put to the vote of Irish people. The one time it was in 2004 concerning the Jus Soli/birthright passports loophole, 80% voted to close it. One of the highest percentages in any referendum.

We, or rather a few idiots in government, are hellbent on storing up major additional social problems in our society. The rest of Europe are dialling back on this multicultural experiment for the same major additional social problems.

Roderick O’Gorman promising them free houses. Are we surprised?

We need more professional beggers to protect the ATMs

This is illegal, it is a mockery of our laws and the government needs to be stopped.

Our government promised to give them a front door key by six months 50% of our social housing goes to non nationals

Because Roderic O’Gormless promised them all free houses.

Disgusting

We're full!

Letting to many in it's a big problem for EIRE now Time to say enough is enough

Five fold increase of people leaving Ireland,
