Arson Attack,House,West Dublin

A number of lines of inquiry are being pursued following an arson attack on a house in West Dublin that left two young children and two adults hospitalised. Gardai say they received a report of suspected criminal damage by fire that occurred at around 5am on Monday at a residence on Aylmer Drive, Newcastle. Four people, including two young children, had to be rescued by emergency services from the property and were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three were rescued by firefighters using a ladder to gain access to an upstairs window. Gardai believe an accelerant was used in the fire at the property and a criminal investigation is now underway. The front window of the house was smashed and a firebomb thrown into the property. A car parked in the driveway was also damaged.
