Catholic Primate Archbishop Eamon Martin has called for removal from the RTÉ Player of an “outrageous clip” broadcast during its New Year’s Eve countdown show.
He expressed shock “that the producer/editor” of the programme “didn’t realise how deeply offensive” it was. The archbishop added the Twitter handle of RTÉ director-general Dee Forbes to his tweet. Contacted by The Irish Times about the item , a spokeswoman for RTÉ said the broadcaster had “no comment”.
Absolutely disgusting using such evil satire. Well done Bishop Martin.

I have no strong faith & take issue with church’s history of abuse. However one should respect beliefs & non-beliefs of others. My young family were subjected to this offensive content. As the stated funded broadcaster I expect much better

I'm not very religious, however the skit about God being arrested for rape is grossly offensive not alone to christians but to believers of all religions. Would RTE do a sketch about arresting Mohammad for being a paedophile. No it would not. Dee Forbes should resign.
