Applying for a new passport Irish citizens, both adults and children, can apply for first time passports online if they are resident inThe online application will tell you of any other documents you may need to submit.Waiting times Turnaround times are affected by seasonal demand. The quickest way to apply for or renew your passport is to do it online.
At the moment according to the Department of Foreign Affairs , online renewals are taking around ten working days. If there is something missing from your application or the passport office is seeking further information, it can take upwards of 15 working days. First time applications made online are taking around 40 working days.
