The former Miss Ireland and TV personality, 49, who is preparing to take to the stage alongside Irish comedy star Deirdre O’Kane next month said she wants to swap her monotonous housewife life for a new challenge ahead of her 50th birthday next year.
“My biggest worry is not standing in front of people because I am used to that, it is being old, i am not used to remembering things in the correct order. So the script might go a bit arse over tit but I am hoping with a bit of practising in front of the mirror with a hair brush and praying that i’ll be able to get it done the right way.”
“This is something I think I wanted to try about 10 years ago but never did anything about it and then this particular event came up and I just loved the idea of the meeting of female comedians. And I felt it would be a really safe space to try it out.” “And what’s the worst that can happen? People don’t find you funny, so what! I’m just going to try and embrace it and have fun.”
Amanda, who previously took to festival stages with her singing, said her comedy set will be ‘firmly aiming at women my age and older people we tend to not get as offended as easily’, she laughed.
