Despite that small decrease in those at risk of poverty in 2019, concerns have been raised following today’s release of the Survey on Income and Living Conditions from the CSO. Despite wage growth, increased employment and very high rates of economic growth last year, these figures show that a significant proportion of the population is still living in very difficult circumstances.” Dr Tricia Keilthy, head of social justice at St Vincent de Paul, said there was some some progress between 2016 and 2017 when 25,000 children were lifted out of poverty.

Poverty = less than 5 Nintendo switch games.

200k.... How many children are there in total!?!? That must be 1/3 of all children in Ireland. I smell manure headline.

No MarcusRashford in the irish sporting scene to fight for these kids. BrianODriscoll TheNotoriousMMA KatieTaylor et al?

You need to start fact checking your own headlines.

'Poverty' is a percentage of the median household income. Therefore poverty is statistically impossible to eliminate! So, the 'despite' above is irrelevant. If average household income was €10 million, then those poor creatures taking in €5 million would be in poverty.

Time to consider a living wage for all in our little country.
