Roscommon never led once O’Shea raised the green flag in the eight minute in front of nearly 14,000 at Dr Hyde Park

never led once and only managed to get level back on three occasions from O’Shea’s eighth minute goal until the final whistle.

Daire Cregg’s 42nd-minute point brought Roscommon level again but Ryan O’Donoghue responded with a score seconds later and from that moment on Mayo largely took control of the contest. O’Shea got out in front of Ruaidhrí Fallon to win possession, turned and was allowed to make his way largely unimpeded across the face of the Roscommon goal, where he eventually pulled his shot back across Conor Carroll to the bottom corner, 1-1 to no score.Diarmuid Murtagh opened Roscommon’s account in the tenth minute but O’Donoghue replied with a point to reinstate Mayo’s four-point advantage.
