56 cases of Covid-19 linked to man who didn’t restrict movements after returning to Ireland from abroadA man who failed to restrict his movements after returning to Ireland from abroad was responsible for 56 cases of Covid-19 in the Mid-West region, a HSE report has revealed.
The report reveals that the index case was abroad on his holidays but he did not restrict his movements as per the current HSE guidelines when he got home. The index case has a close extended family who visit each other’s houses regularly. This led to some extended family members also getting infected with Covid-19.
Health officials in the region have issued a series of key messages to the public for winter 2020, including:Wear a face covering in shops and other indoor settings and on public transportCommenting on the report, Dr Mai Mannix, Director of Public Health in the Mid-West said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has been an unprecedented challenge for all, including Public Health in the Mid-West region.
