Image: Sam Boal/Rollingnews.ie Image: Sam Boal/Rollingnews.ie TICKETS TO PURCHASE a ‘Gold Table’ at an upcoming dinner in Australia with Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald are on sale for upwards of €2,000.
The dinner forms part of a wider trip by McDonald to Australia where she is expected to meet with various members of the country’s Irish community. Tickets are available to purchase individually or for a table, starting at $214.50 Australian dollars and reaching $3,300 for a ‘Gold Table’. “Ms McDonald will share her thoughts on the impact of the global pandemic, on the implications of Brexit, and on the role of Ireland in both Europe and the wider world from a business and geopolitical perspective going forward.
Currently, the Dáil term is due to conclude the previous week. However, in recent years the term has been extended until later in July and a decision to do so again this year could yet take place. Doherty said that “while Fine Gael toasted its success in government last night, the reality is many families are being pushed to the brink”.“I hosted a dinner last night to thank colleagues for their years of service. There was no public money involved. Sinn Féin hosts dinners in America, charging people €1,000 per plate to attend, and the party leader flies first class to get there,” the Tánaiste said.
Ah good to see FFGSF is alive and well and coming soon to a Nail near you, welcome to the establishment Mary, the back seat of an S-class is nice too
So what?
So the Journal fall into the silly trap that the rest of them have fallen into? Sad.
Apparently this is journalism. Bittersweet. up MaryLouMcDonald
Gutter sensationalism journalism at its worst
Boring......time you tried some real journalism.
Does the thejournal actually do any research or just go with the most sensationalist headline? It's actually The Sydney Chamber of Commerce holding the dinner and Ms McDonald is a guest speaker.
kevinpbreslin This is where journalism fails the rest of journalism.
It's unbelievable how many people in Ireland would rather our country was split in 2 whilst people that have left want our country united?!?!?
Fly me out...the only party that has engagement with the diaspora!
I find this amusing ..no one bats an eyelid at local councilors showing up at funerals for people they don’t know then they claim expenses
And they only calling not to dissolve the dail cause of the cost of living crisis - what if they actually kept the dail open? Would she cancel? Is this no dail time not suppose to be spent on her constituents? Like is she on annual leave or being paid?
Who owns this Journal rag? Yet another media that only ever punches down - on the Opposition! Where's the old journalistic maxim gone, speaking truth to power? Less a newspaper, more daily job applications to MSM.
Kilsally Champagne socialism at its finest. Oh how the foolish Irish Electorate has been duped.
At least we know SF has a price for “engagement “.
Would be a great night out..
It would want to be some dinner. It's fundraising in a different ball park. No wonder Varadkar and Martin spit feathers when they look across at SF.
Gotta keep up with the inflatory cost of maintaining all of those, oh so many, bandwagons
2k to listen to someone in a tracksuit talking about their life. Would rather swim in a lake of warm vomit..
Mary Lou on my local radio said she never traveled first class in a plane so Leothelier is telling lies.
Follow the money! That's just describing their philosophy, it's not some call for an enquiry.
As d old saying goes .. make hay while d sun shines along with another famous one.. fck d begrudgers!
It is NOT a SF organised function. SF are paying for their leader’s expenses. A non story by FFFG clowns.
Psf housing policy in Ireland Psf no shame psf failures
& so the long road to the next election has begun….the client media of official/“professional” Ireland, the status quo & FF/FG will ramp up project fear as the months pass. A more equal Ireland will become a threat to even those who might benefit.
Is thst nit common place with all political parties? Ir is the fact they are a party for the working class whats sticking in the throats of others?
But but but the poor and the hungry who have to chose between eating and heating.
Seems reasonable. A gold table would be worth far more than that.
ger_cosgrove Shinners are sinners.
So first class flights and €2000 tickets?! Really working hard for the working class
The Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce is charging the prices and the proceeds go to them. Not exactly a big money maker for Sinn Féin as your article seems to imply.
I'd be a better journalist myself, I'd be embarrassed putting my name to this
So not a Sinn Féin fundraiser, what is the story here? This sounds like a client journalism verbatim article for Leo Varadkar's bile.
Thatll help to fund the army council bosses wage bill every month..
Sure why would you be robbing banks when you can sell €2,000 dinner tickets
So what
The Galway Tent ?
Not even if THEY paid ME two grand.
Globo.
Will you be flying economy class as usual Mary Lou considering most of Ireland is in a cost of living crisis.
Any chance of an outbreak of covid in Oz and they close their borders for a couple of years. We can but hope.
Should have charged 3000.
SF are the new UK Labour Party stacked with ngos
Do they throw in a signed hungerstriker plate .
Moving to the center politically and now raising funds like FFG. Big money needs to be out of politics.
Sure even the price of balaclavas has gone up, the money has to come from somewhere!
I don’t like Sinn Fein but at least they’re not hiding it. I suppose you’re trying to imply the rest of the parties are whiter than white.
I would rather eat grass than look at that ugly mug across the table
That's irish republican socialism for you.
A fool and there money are soon parted. Anyone stupid enough to pay that for a seat at the dinner with anyone has more money than sense
The part of the 'People'
The Socialist party...
Cheap for a gold table, I seen one valued at €15m on antiques roadshow
Fund raising instead of using a charity status, who'd have thought that.
Party of the working class me arse
At least it's a step forward from the Northern Bank raid...
Dubliner112 Semtex don't come cheap
Well done MaryLouMcDonald, it's great to see how popular you are on the opposite side of the world. Apparently LeoVaradkar couldn't shift tickets for an dinner with himself for €20 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A spokesperson for Sinn Féin told The Journal this afternoon that the party “will not be receiving any income from the tour”. So what exactly is the issue here?
Bargain!
And?
Looking forward to hearing about FF and their multi million euro fundraisers. 🤣
I guess they are being honest about fundraising, not pretending they are a charity for tax fraud perposes
Dubliner112 🤡🤡💷💷💰💰the Shinners just love the money.
Mary Sue has a neck life a giraffe.. she on about the poor people while living in her million euro mansion flying first class and her followers believe her when she tells them she earns the average industrial wage 😂😂 . Easy to fool a SF supporter though ..
Those gigs start at US$25k, are often $100,000 with the 1% crowd here in US. This seems a very tame number for this sort of thing, tbh.
I’d rather stick a cocktail umbrella down my jap eye
Boggles the mind that people would pay to hear that empty void speak on anything.
IrelandBoru Does it come with a free booster?
Her comedy gold surely worth it - particularly the magic money tree joke.
De I De I De IRA
Obviously joking
Well at least sinnfeinireland have a price on theirs, fiannafailparty and FineGael hold events in tents with blank cheques and brown envelopes
Australia is gone bankrupt as people run to take cash out of banks etc so can’t see them paying to see her
There is a strange trend coming from the Journal, the lack of articles directed at Catholic's.
Globalist sellout
Electric Ireland upped their prices for the 2nd time. They are owned by ESB Group. ESB Group had an operating profit of €679 million in 2021, increase of €63 million on 2020.
Mary Lou also lives in a million pound house in a posh part of Dublin. Back in my day you would have top SF people who were on dole and lived in working class communities. SF are no longer the working man party.
Can funds raised by political parties abroad be repatriated into the state? I don’t think so,but apparently it is by SF?
A bargain to be sitting beside the next Taoiseach!
They can buy more guns
€2,000 that's not bad will there be a free marquee for the races too
Ffs and PD slagged Leo off for having a pub dinner with party members ... galway tent how are you
You guys ever hear of the Galway tent?
And?
Well worth it
That's chump change for a lobbyist to get the ear of the next Taoiseach for 90 mins
All in it together
€2 did you say? Too expensive.
s that all? Wasn't the Fianna Fail 'Galway Tent' €5,000 a pop for their cronies to sit at plastic tables and chairs. BrownEnvelopes Corruption FiannaFail
Plenty of money in Australia, well worth it.
If it triggers a few blueshirts then I suppose it’s not a completely pointless article
Just shows. All the politicians are the same
Sounds like legal fundraising to me. What's the problem?
Upfront about it. Beats backhanders in brown envelopes in racing tents.
Will there be golden socialist statues as well?
And people will vote for this crowd ? Some socialist’s!
Fine gael fuming 😂😂😂 but …. but ….. but …..
Same people who criticise Dominic Raab for having a go at Angela Rayner would gleefully point out that Mary is in fact a middle class woman trying to represent the working class, as if it's some kind of gotcha moment🙄
At these prices the Provo Queen has become the Provo Empress! Full disclosure on the sources and ultimate use?
That is ridiculous.
Worth every penny
i feel bad for people stupid enough to think a privately educated former fianna fail woman is the champion of the working class, sinn fein is now a party of snobby progressives
At that price I'd be expecting a ride off her at the end of the night 😀 😃
