Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly is to seek a "full account" from Dublin's Coombe hospital after 16 vaccines were administered to family members of staff.
"Our vaccine allocation strategy clearly sets out a priority list for vaccination - and that's currently for frontline healthcare workers and residents and staff of our long term residential care facilities."I will be speaking with the Chair of the Coombe Hospital Board for a full account," the statement said.
It goes on to say that the Health Service Executive booking system and portal was not yet live and as such it was not possible to pre-book vaccinations and therefore be certain of the number of vaccinations required. "Of the 16 recipients, nine were over 70 and the remaining seven were of varying age. It would not be appropriate for the hospital to comment on the individuals involved".
In my opinion he says it as it is ..No sugar coating he's words..And ways keeps us informed on the day to day situation .He don't have too but he takes time out after he finishes he day at work to go through the e-mails he has recieved and replay's to them ..

The incompetence, lack of motivation and self-imposed complexities seen in the *management* of the HSE is becoming obvious. A simple 'standby' list would have avoided this fiasco. Who will own up to designing/managing the processes for distributing the vaccine? Nobody, as usual.
I'd much prefer a surplus of vaccines be used by someone rather than being dumped. I know these vaccines can't be moved much and need to be stored in special conditions but surely a waiting list could be drawn up rather than just vaccinating random people at the end of the day.

There is a Garda station and a fire station 5 mins either side of that hospital. Those vaccines could easily have found a home. This was a selfish and disgraceful decision and the master should stand down immediately.

If the viles were unsealed and had to be used, i dont see an issue. But if they were still sealed and could have been passed on to another location then that's a different matter.
