More than two in three people in Ireland know someone who has died by suicide, a new survey has found.
The results of the annual Healthy Ireland survey looks into the nation's lifestyle habits, providing data on alcohol consumption, mental health, smoking and menstruation. The results of the Health Ireland Survey found one in 10 people under 35 have at some point attempted to try to take their own life, this drops to less than 1% for those 65 or older.One in four women meanwhile say they’ve experienced period poverty, with younger people more adversely affected by the price of sanitary products.
While the majority of people said they were in good health, almost three in 10 have a long-term illness, with high blood pressure, arthritis and asthma the most common health issues among Irish people.
