Like Vina, whose mother works in Malaysia, the children of migrant workers in NTB are also vulnerable to becoming victims of violence.

Mariam and her granddaughter, Nadira , were in the Mungkik hamlet of Pandan Wangi Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, on Wednesday . Since she was a toddler, Nadira has been left behind by her migrant worker parents and has been living with her grandmother.

"Anak Sawit" for children whose parents go to Malaysia,"Anak Unta" for children whose parents go to Saudi Arabia, and"Anak Oleh-oleh" for children born abroad and brought home by their parents. Of that number, the largest number of migrant workers went to Malaysia, with 16,912 people. The rest went to Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Brunei Darussalam, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Laos, Turkey, Kuwait, Italy, Laos, and Jordan.

Referring to NTB Satu Data, in 2022 there were 738 child victims of 640 cases of violence in NTB. Out of the total cases, as many as 179 cases of violence occurred in East Lombok, with 51 children becoming victims of sexual violence. In addition to sexual violence, children in the area also experience physical and psychological violence, as well as neglect.Even in 2024, cases of violence in East Lombok dominate.

The grandmother and grandfather have to take care of four grandchildren at once. In fact, the main task is entrusted to the grandmother because the grandfather suffers from a stroke. Currently, NTB is also an area with a high incidence of child marriage cases. According to the data from the NTB Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning Agency, as of 2023, there were 723 cases of underage marriage dispensation submitted to the NTB Religious High Court. This is an increase from 710 cases in 2022.
