Muhaimin was questioned as a witness because he served as the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration from 2009-2014 . The Chairman of the Nation Awakening Party was questioned for approximately five hours.
Muhaimin admitted that he had explained everything he knew regarding the protection system for Indonesian migrant workers to KPK investigators. With this explanation, it is hoped that the KPK can quickly investigate the alleged corruption case. Through a written statement, the Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission Firli Bahuri stated that KPK investigators will seek knowledge from Muhaimin related to corruption in the Ministry of Manpower during his tenure as Minister of Manpower and Transmigration from 2009 to 2014. Therefore, Muhaimin has been called as a witness in the alleged corruption case involving the procurement of a protection system for Indonesian Migrant Workers at the Ministry of Manpower in 2012.
Ali stated that in the investigative process, the Corruption Eradication Commission has conducted a search at the Ministry of Manpower's office and the residence of Reyna Usman on Taki Niode IPILO Street, Gorontalo. Later on Thursday, September 7th, 2023, the KPK also searched Reyna's house located in Badung Regency, Bali.
However, more importantly, the KPK not only investigates allegations of corruption in the protection system for Indonesian migrant workers. This is because MAKI has also found reports of alleged bribery in the insurance for Indonesian migrant workers.
