and I really wanted to collaborate with him. We spoke about it and he loved the idea of doing eco-responsible fashion. He asked me to meet with Pier Paolo, the CEO of the Karl Lagerfeld brand, who also loved the idea. We were going to do it and then there were some things that just didn't line up so we weren't able to in the end. Obviously, I kept in touch with Karl, and Pier Paolo and I also became friends.
In terms of my career, my first real fashion experience was on a photo shoot in Milan. It was for Italian Vogue. I still remember the casting, of all the famous models from the 1980s. They were all fabulous and I just felt like this kid that had just arrived from Oklahoma, but I got the job! At the time, I had no idea about Vogue's name or how important it was. When they put me on set, I just started to cry because I didn't know what I was doing.
