A new poll reveals that Joe Neguse, U.S. Representative for Colorado, is the frontrunner for the 2026 Democratic gubernatorial primary, but a significant portion of voters remain undecided.
A recent survey of potential candidates for the Democratic party's 2026 gubernatorial primary reveals that a majority of respondents remain undecided. The survey, conducted by Magellan Strategies in early December and released on Monday, polled 630 registered voters. Colorado U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse garnered the most support at 20%, followed by Secretary of State Jena Griswold at 16%, Ken Salazar at 11%, and Attorney General Phil Weiser at 8%.
Thirty-seven percent of respondents stated they were undecided, while 8% planned to support a candidate not listed in the survey. All four individuals are considered potential contenders for the governor's seat in 2026, as current Governor Jared Polis is term-limited. Griswold and Weiser face term limits in their current positions, while Salazar and Neguse have previously held statewide offices. The survey was weighted to reflect typical turnout in a midterm Democratic primary in Colorado and had a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points
