On Tuesday, the George County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Dustin M. Merrill on child sex abuse charges.
LUCEDALE , Miss. — On Tuesday, the George County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Dustin M. Merrill on child sex abuse charges. Deputies were first made aware of the case on Monday, May 11, when a report was made by concerned parents after their child told them they’d been sexually abused.
An investigation was immediately opened, and officials found that the child and Merrill had been in contact.
“Cases involving crimes against children are among the most serious we handle,” said Sheriff Mitchell Mixon. “We will continue to pursue these investigations aggressively and work to ensure victims receive justice while keeping our community safe. ” Merrill is charged with two counts of sexual battery involving a child and booked into the George County Regional Correctional Facility to be held on a $150,000 bond for each charge.
