Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich announced the sentencing of an Akron man Monday for trafficking methamphetamine.

Dominique Prince , 34, was sentenced to nine to 13.5 years in prison after pleading guilty in March to one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs.

In September 2025, an Akron detective and K-9 officer intercepted a package at a shipping company that contained five pounds of crystal meth. The package was intended to be delivered to a “Jonathan Garcia” on Jonathan Avenue in Akron, the prosecutor’s office said.

Officers organized a control delivery of the meth in 299.83 gram increments to the resident, who was later identified with the use of multiple law enforcement databases as Prince. The prosecutor’s office said Prince’s license plate was also registered to the resident in the Jonathan Avenue residence.

Detectives set up surveillance around the residence, and used an undercover Summit County Drug Unit detective to deliver a parcel containing the drugs. A different resident associated with Prince accepted the package, but after Prince arrived to pick up the package, he was arrested by officers. When executing a search warrant, the prosecutor’s office said officers recovered methamphetamine and scales in Prince’s bedroom.

I’d like to thank Akron Narcotic Detectives, Street Narcotics Uniform Detail Detectives, the Violent Fugitive Task Force, and Summit County Drug Unit Detectives for their collaborative effort to bring Dominique Prince into custody. My office does not tolerate those who bring these deadly drugs into our community, and I am glad to see Prince finally face justice.
