Program gave women a chance to try trades before committing financially

After 16 years of hosting Women in Trades classes, Okanagan College is shutting down the program after the provincial government pulled its funding.

“I think it was as simple as that, and at this point, we are just incredibly grateful that we’ve had 16 years of funding and that that program has had a great impact here for us.” Former Women in Trades participant Kylie Cyr was devastated to hear the news, and says she would not be where she is today, in second-year carpentry, if it wasn’t for that program.
