of those jobs all together. Therefore, technology will likely augment or even replace the jobs associated with whatever career aspirations a primary schooler may have by the time they enter the work force.Linear career paths, as we once knew them, will become a thing of the past. According to the
Because of this, we need to prepare them for a complex and changing world and a life of continuous learning. Therefore, we should not impose on our youth the socially constructed belief that one’s career identity is static and anchored to a singular profession. Instead, we need to encourage children to explore what they love to do, figure out what they love to learn, and think of problems they would love to solve.
I engaged in real-world problem solving with my nieces and nephews during a recent video chat. My nieces and nephews have started growing vegetables in their garden. They beam with excitement at every vegetable harvest. I used this opportunity to discuss the problem of climate change and plastic pollution. I asked them how their gardening skills could help the planet.

Oh my god stop, seriously
Same old truth of not knowing where one has been or heritage, being difficult of not knowing where one is headed. Learn, plan make a choice as it does not matter on results but to strive.
We should absolutely ask kids what they want to do when they grow up, because if they answer X, we can suggest Y and Z. If your kid has an interest you should help them as much as possible, and you can’t do that if you never ask.
Because we want them to grow up without goals and aspirations? To drift through life relying on those that made something of themselves despite the advice of “experts”. Do people not see the chaos they are building? One thing 2020 has taught us, warm and fuzzy won’t work.
Why not, article is behind a paywall... - it helps kids prepare for the future.
Hell im 54 and I’ve finally realized what I wanna be when I grow up. A kid lol
A stupid question for sure. I have lived a long time. We are really being led by the nose by academic nonsense when it comes to raising our children.
Be careful of turning something fun for kids like growing a garden into work. This is now a project to lower our carbon footprint. Kids will loose interest when adults interfere and take the fun out.
Why we should ignore everything this article says.
gee let me think back Yep That's exactly what I did
I don’t take parenting advice from MSM and certainly not from strangers posting opinion pieces
Yes, how dare we encourage our kids to dream big, set goals for themselves, look to the future with optimism...
Is it because, between Covid and climate change, they aren't likely to have a future? Is that why?
What happen to setting life goals and achievements? Talk about damming the future, it’s like there is a master plan to get everyone to be broken and a servant to the government
Good article, stupid headline. Just so everyone knows, often the writer does not get to chose the headline.
Stop asking kids what they want to be? FFS. What is it now? It’s been fine for hundreds of years. If we need parenting advice we will ask for it.
Stop letting your children dream about their possibilities in the future because....tech. Any more parental advice I can ignore?
Pretty soon we won't be able to talk about anything. Lol. Who comes up with this stuff? I was forever asking my kids what they wanted to be & encouraging them to do so. It worked out btw .
Because that's not important?
