FP recently caught up with Stausholm at Climate Week NYC and he outlined why he thinks Canada is years ahead of other western nations when it comes to tackling climate change, the energy transition and how it affects miners, as well as why China, despite all the criticism, deserves acclaim for its investment in renewable energy.: You’ve gone to New York to attend a climate event.

How optimistic am I? On one hand, I am sitting here in New York, I am not super optimistic. A lot of people are talking very negatively. I am failing to see the leadership of what are the real actions that should take societies moving forward. And, to be frank, the biggest problem the world has is that 82 per cent of the world’s energy depends upon fossil fuels. It’s much lower in Canada, but globally it’s 82 per cent.
