Premier John Horgan made the announcement from his home riding in Langdale Monday, arguing that it was time for voters to give his government a new mandate.
But for many British Columbians, the election comes as a surprise, considering the province wasn’t set to go to the polls until next fall, according to a signed agreement between Horgan’s minority government and the Green Party. Throw in the global pandemic and concerns of accessibility for voters during the provincial state of emergency, and it’s a heck of a time to head to the ballot box.
Under CASA, both the NDP and Green agreed not to trigger an election until the next scheduled date, which was set for the fall of 2021.Last week ahead of election speculation, Horgan argued that the CASA was developed during a very different time, and didn’t apply in the same way now.
Sure hope so
No!!
Irresponsible!
He might end up like Britan’s Theresa May who lost more seats after calling for a snap election
BC people. Dont be the artisans of your own doom... NPD equals unchecked spending, deficits, high taxes, job destruction and overall poverty. Leads to something dark...
Cause there is no pandemic
Ooooops. Wrong again. Your story said after the election of 2017, both Libs and NDP has 41 seats. In fact, Libs won 43, the NDP had 41. After the non confidence vote loss by Libs, NDP-Green took power and combined had 44.
Please correct your story. Horgan spoke at Langford this morning, not “Langdale”. 🙁
numbnuts Horgan hoping to squeak in Useless as always
Because it’s a non issue. World didn’t ended in eastern Canada last week when the minority government in New Brunswick called a snap election 2 years early. They had the election and managed to have voters cast ballots, counted the votes and declared a winner. Move on
Economic & political RESET. bc BritishColumbia johnhorgan cdnpoli
