Since Saturday morning, Locke and her husband have been trying to get from Thunder Bay to Vancouver to meet their newly born grandson. “If they book us onto a flight on Tuesday and pay for a hotel, I guess maybe that’s some kind of compensation. But it’s still not enough to cover missing three days with our grandson.”The airline said the outage impacted its operations and ability to relay information to guests.Many passengers say the lack of communication and transparency has been discouraging.
“James and I are on our way, but our families aren’t, so it just feels really yucky to be going without them, and it’s just our day that we envisioned is ruined,” said Leanne Houlihan.A passenger rights advocate said if WestJet doesn’t pay for their hotels and meals and rebook their flights, passengers can take action.
Our flight was cancelled at 955 (supposed to take off at 1015) due to lack of crew. Still waiting in line (2004hrs) to rebook flights (or decide to cancel vacation completely)
