This was before extreme weather wreaked havoc on the airline industry during the holiday season. Between Dec. 18 and Dec. 26, 1,450 flights were cancelled by WestJet due to winter storms across the country, affecting thousands of travellers. On Dec. 23 alone, 333 flights were grounded.
At least this CEO has figured out that you can’t be great at 50 things. Pick 3. Focus on those. Mostly focus on the one called ‘don’t cancel flights’.
WestJet definitely has to do a course correction to hopefully gain back some credibility however Alexis con Hoensbroech is not the the CEO to implement those changes.
Let's not cancel all flights that's a good strategy
Hope that focus is on not abandoning passengers in connecting airports to sleep on the floor. That would be great.
Between Dec 18-26 flights that were delayed or canceled were NOT ALL due to weather. We were to fly out on the 21st & via my Westjet app I was informed 2 hours before going to the airport for our 10 day vacation that our flight was canceled due to 'Lack of Crew Availability'.
