Canadian election debate 2019: Livestream video and live analysis

With just two weeks until election day and polls showing the Liberals and Conservatives locked in a dead heat, tonight’s English-language debate could be the last chance for the leaders to make a big impression on Canadians.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer and Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau will have to speak up, though, because they’ll be just two voices on a crowded stage. Tonight’s debate, hosted in the Canadian Museum of History across the river from Parliament Hill in Ottawa, is already historic because it will be the first time six leaders have assembled onstage during a federal campaign. Battling for progressive votes will be NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and Green Party Leader Elizabeth May, who will also be trying to woo disaffected Liberal voters.

Watch the livestream above starting at 7 p.m ET and follow along below as National Post politics reporters Brian Platt, Maura Forrest and Stuart Thomson provide live analysis of the only official English-language debate.
