As charging speeds increase — and EVs become more popular — that ratio may drop to one station per 50 cars. If you’re quick with math, that means those 50,000 stations the government is boasting about building are good for about 2.5 million EVs at best, and just a million at worst.
In other words, the roadblock in our quest for reduced emissions may no longer be trying to convince consumers to buy battery-powered vehicles, but to keep driving them.
