Canadian businessman Albert Walker arrives at court in Teignmouth, England for the second day of the committal trial hearing against him for murder in 1996.With his then 15-year-old daughter Sheena, the 51-year-old former financier had disappeared six years earlier – considered by Walkers’ ex-wife Barbara as a kidnapping/abduction scenario.
Turns out the real Platt had returned from Canada to England and was looking for his identity back. A spectacular court case revealed he and Walker had a confrontation on a boat and Platt ended up at the bottom of the channel with a rope and anchor wrapped around him. The Oyster Rolex watch found on Ron Platt’s body and used as evidence in the Albert Walker murder trial at Exeter Crown Court. It turns out Rolex keeps impeccable records and those records let police to Woodham Walter.
It was there I met OPP Det. Joe Milton – the sleuth on this case who never gave up. He knew Walker was out there somewhere but acknowledged without that watch, he may never have been found.Photo by Toronto Sun files
