Truck driver training standards expose fatal flawsLess than a year after the Humboldt tragedy, pressure on the government resulted in a national set of standards for entry level training for truck drivers. But a W5 investigation reveals it's made little difference when it comes to improving safety standards. 90 percent of them can’t back up and can barely drive forward This came to light in Ontario a number of years ago identifying the limited training and testing that new truck drivers received. Nothing was done then. Incidents have increased. Nothing will be done now. Whole industry is screwed cause there's no enforcement going on. Inspectors at the weigh in stations need to do more than just glance at the driver logs. IMO most drivers, dispatchers, and inspectors need more training.
