'It's going to happen again:' Visitors, residents hope $250K reward leads to B.C. gondola cable cutting arrest

Last Updated Saturday, September 26, 2020 3:59PM PDTSQUAMISH, B.C. -- Lonnie Elias Gairdner and Jenna Marie Apsassin arrived at the base of the Sea to Sky Gondola hoping for a ride, only to discover that – for the second time in just over a year – the cables had been cut.

For Apsassin, knowing this is the second time it’s happened in 13 months, police should have more leads than they seem to.That’s now a quarter-million-dollar question. Sea to Sky Gondola ownership have announced a $250,000 reward for a tip that leads to an arrest and conviction. Squamish RCMP were part of Friday’s announcement but had no updates to provide on the ongoing investigation.

The gondola’s base camp has reopened, with the gift shop and cafe are both welcoming visitors. Elliott said she hopes those who love to visit the gondola will continue to come to Squamish.

B.C. Liberals’ ‘logical, smart’ Andrew Wilkinson carries his party’s hopes in electionPart of Andrew Wilkinson’s challenge is that his predecessor was Christy Clark, whose magnetic personality was a draw, says an observer. Oh, now I know who the BC Liberal leader is. Nice try, VanSun. Wilkinson has been, is, and will always be, a POS. No way will Wilkinson win the election. No way do I consider someone so heated about addiction as the number one problem in BC as rational or insightful.
