The Vancouver Canadians are hoping that Michael Dominguez can replicate his last outing and help get them back into the Northwest League championship series tonight.

Dominguez gets the start on the mound at PK Park in Eugene for the C’s this evening , with Vancouver trailing the Eugene Emeralds 1-0 in the best-of-five set after a 10-3 loss there on Monday.Start your day with a roundup of B.C.-focused news and opinion delivered straight to your inbox at 7 a.m., Monday to Friday.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.

Dominguez is the reigning Northwest League pitcher of the week after holding those same Emeralds to two hits over six scoreless innings in Vancouver’s 9-1 win last Wednesday at the Nat that clinched the C’s a spot in the playoffs. Dominguez struck out nine and walked just one that game, throwing 56 of his 87 pitches for strikes. The 22-year-old right-hander from Newport News, Va., was a 15th round pick by the parent Toronto Blue Jays in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft and started this season with the single-A Dunedin Blue Jays before Toronto promoted him to high-A Vancouver on July 22.Article content
