Canada has only ever qualified for the men’s FIFA World Cup in 1986 and hasn’t really come close since. The COVID-19 pandemic forced CONCACAF to change the qualifying process, giving Canada an opportunity to play its way into the main qualifying group. With the likes of 2020 UEFA Champions League winner Alphonso Davies, recently crowned French Ligue 1 champion Jonathan David, and Turkish champion Cyle Larin on the team, Canada should have enough talent to move on to the final phase of qualifying, where they’ll be able to pit themselves up against the best the region has to offer.
