Police say a shooting threat written on a bathroom wall prompted them to evacuate the Cornett Building at the University of Victoria campus on Friday morning. “While the message is similar to one found at a local high school a few days ago, we are unable to confirm at this time if the suspect is the same,” Saanich police said in a Twitter post Friday just before noon.
Saanich and Oak Bay police officers flooded the campus after receiving a report of the shooting threat on a bathroom wall. Within an hour, the building had been emptied and police investigated the Cornett Building and deemed it safe. The Cornett Building contains the departments of anthropology, Indigenous studies, psychology, sociology and the office of interdisciplinary academic programs.
