Ukraine: One Life at a Time will screen at the Artsplace Gallery in Annapolis Royal on Monday, Jan. 16. ContributedANNAPOLIS ROYAL, N.S. — A Ukrainian-Canadian filmmaker is set to screen her latest documentary, Ukraine: One Life at a Time, at the Artsplace Gallery in Annapolis Royal on Monday, Jan. 16.
The film, which was created by Olesya Shyvikova in collaboration with filmmaker Ethan Neville, offers a heart-wrenching view of the ongoing war in Ukraine through exclusive footage and breathtaking scenic shots. It tells the stories of families from Kyiv, Mariupol and Bucha who have fled the war-torn country and found safety in Canada.“In February 2022, I was in a lot of pain. Ethan pushed me out of my comfort zone to make a film about the war and the Ukrainian refugees coming to Canada,” said Shyvikova.
The film will be screened upstairs at the Artsplace Studio at 7 p.m., and admission to the screening is by donation.
