Biden has pledged in the past to appoint the first Black woman to the high court.

The Associated PressSupreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, seen here on April 23, 2021, is expected to announce his retirement, giving U.S. President Joe Biden the opportunity to replace him.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to pre-empt Breyer's eventual announcement. NBC first reported the justice's plans. Breyer's departure, expected over the summer, won't change the 6-3 conservative advantage on the court because his replacement will be nominated by Biden and almost certainly confirmed by a Senate where Democrats have the slimmest majority.

Republicans who changed the Senate rules during the Trump era to allow simple majority confirmation of Supreme Court nominees appeared resigned to the outcome. "Justice Breyer's retirement is coming not a moment too soon, but now we must make sure our party remains united in support of confirming his successor," Demand Justice Executive Director Brian Fallon said. The White House says a decision on a nominee has not been made yet, but Biden has narrowed the field.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Twitter Tuesday: "We have no additional details or information to share from @WhiteHouse."

So if I said our company is looking to hire a WHITE woman - would you be OK with that How would you report that Anytime you mention race- that is racism no matter how you spin it.

Saying you are going to appoint a BLACK WOMAN sounds a lot like racism to me. What about qualifications Oh ya -politically correct.

Pressured to retire by Far Left in an attempt to boost a badly sagging failure of a leader by giving him a “win.”

How about getting the best possible candidate regardless of creed, colour or sex!

Hoping he gets a competent and kind successor!

Normally I would agree with pick the best person. However any of the candidates will be good candidates. The Republican party turned it into a joke when they blocked Obama's appointment. Trumps picks were political. Might as represent a large portion of the country

Is Diversity is superseding qualifications?

l didnt know Kamela Harris had a sister .

I'm sure MLK Jr. would have been a big fan of and advocate for such tokenism... /s
