A popular waterfront restaurant in Maryland is using inner tube 'bumper tables' to keep diners from getting too close while it reopens during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A restaurant and bar in Ocean City, Maryland, has created special bumper tables with inner tubes to keep customers six feet apart while they walk around. The tubes are on a metal frame and the customer stands in the middle. A popular waterfront restaurant in Maryland has come up with a way to keep customers at a safe social distance that actually looks pretty fun.

States that have opened for dining in have added restrictions. In Ohio, for example, tables need to be 6 feet apart or have barriers separating diners.Fish Tales Bar & Grill owners Shawn and Donna Harman told CNN that they'll use the tables for customers who are waiting for tables or would normally sit at the bar. They said it will also make it easier for restaurant staff to enforce social distancing.

"It just really didn't make sense for us to open any sooner because it's been a cold, wet spring, and there was really nobody to sell to," Shawn Harman said.

Ok CNN

An interesting idea, but it seems like it would encourage people to play 'bumper tables' and they're not big enough for 2-metre spacing when the tables touch.

Am I the only one who thinks that looks like fun?

Clown world. People have been infantilized and conditioned to accept this type of utter nonsense. Embarrassing and pathetic.

kuku27 One looks like Tire-d and fixed in a hole. Can you eat like this. Most absurd idea, ugly too

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Could be a real tough time trying to pee with that on. Better aim good.

What the?

I mean, if they were dining on the water this would make sense.

I have never been desperate enough for a Coke and linguine to wear an inner tube to eat it in. Must be me.

Ridiculous
